Fujifilm X-T100

The Fujifilm X-T100 is a small mirrorless camera released in 2019. At 448 g and 121 x 83 x 47 mm, it is light enough to carry all day in a small bag.

The Fujifilm X mount accepts interchangeable lenses, and a 24MP APS-C sensor gives resolution for prints and cropping.

It suits photographers who want a proper viewfinder and touch control in a travel-friendly body. Ownership is simple: one SD card, a removable NP-W126s battery and charging over USB.

A 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor gives plenty of resolution for prints and leaves room to crop. Pairing it with different X-mount lenses lets you tailor the camera to landscapes one day and portraits the next.

Framing runs through a 2,360,000-dot electronic viewfinder, which shows the scene clearly and lets you confirm focus before you shoot.

The maximum burst of 6 fps suits candid moments and portraits, though fast action will outpace it. The autofocus system is specified with 91 points. The 1/4000s shutter ceiling also limits how wide you can open the aperture in bright light.

Sensitivity runs from ISO 200 to 12800, so you can keep shooting as light fades. There is no in-body stabilisation, so at slower shutter speeds you need steady hands or a support to avoid blur from camera shake.

The X-T100 records 4K video, which gives footage enough sharpness for large screens and some room to crop or reframe in the edit. For travel films and family clips, that covers most sharing needs.

The maximum frame rate of 60 fps is a separate ceiling from the 4K resolution limit, so check which recording modes combine them. At normal playback speed it keeps fast movement smooth, and slowing the footage yields a mild slow-motion look.

A built-in timelapse mode automates interval shooting, so a drifting-cloud or sunset sequence takes one setup rather than hundreds of manual frames. Set it running and shoot elsewhere in the meantime.

The flip-out screen helps here, letting you check framing while recording from high or low positions. Clips record as MPEG-4 or MOV.

The 3-inch LCD carries 1,040,000 dots and responds to touch, so you can change settings and browse playback with a fingertip. It also flips out, which makes overhead or waist-level framing far easier than working with a fixed screen.

A built-in flash provides fill when interiors get dim, and support for an external flash gives you a path to more power later.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are both built in, giving the camera two wireless connection options for use with suitable devices.

There is no weather sealing, so keep the body dry in rain and dust. GPS is also absent, so locations are not tagged automatically.

The camera takes SD, SDHC and SDXC cards with UHS-I compatibility, so a suitable card can make use of the faster UHS-I interface. There is one slot only, so there is no second card holding a copy; carry spares for extra storage instead.

The NP-W126s battery is rated at 440 shots, a specification figure. Real-world endurance depends on screen and viewfinder use, so a charged spare is worth packing for long days out.

Charging runs over USB, so you can top the battery up between shoots with a standard cable and a USB power source. That keeps cable management simple when travelling light.
