About This LensThis 7Artisans prime gives full-frame mirrorless shooters a wide 24mm view with a bright f/1.8 maximum. It is sold in Sony E, Leica L and Nikon Z mounts, so choose the version matching your camera. Together, that focal length and aperture suit street photography, interiors, architecture and travel, where you often work in tight spaces and dim light. The main trade-off is the fixed focal length. You compose by moving closer or stepping back, and a zoom would cover more scenes at once. Released in 2025 and still in production, this is a current design rather than an older model.

About the BuildThis lens weighs 15 oz (424 g) and measures 3.62 in (92 mm) long. That makes it light and short enough to carry all day on a mirrorless body. The barrel is 2.83 in (72 mm) across. The front accepts 62mm screw-in filters, so any filter you buy must match that thread.

About the OpticsAt 24mm, this lens takes in a broad scene without leaving the room. That makes it a natural fit for interiors, building exteriors and street corners where you cannot step back. Small group shots indoors also fit without cramming people together. It also suits environmental portraits, keeping a person and their surroundings in the frame together. The f/1.8 maximum aperture is the main advantage for evening work. Wide open, it passes enough light to keep shutter speeds usable handheld after dark. Depth of field at 24mm stays deep even wide open. Expect context in focus rather than heavy background blur, though close subjects still separate from their surroundings. Focusing down to 1 ft (32 cm) lets you place a foreground detail close to the camera. Used this way, the wide view creates a strong sense of depth in a scene. The aperture uses eleven blades, which help keep out-of-focus highlights round as you stop down. Stopping down also deepens focus further when you want whole rooms sharp.

About the FeaturesThis lens has no built-in stabilisation. Handheld pictures in dim light therefore depend on the f/1.8 aperture, your camera's settings and steady hands. If your camera body includes its own stabilisation, that can carry handheld work instead. For long exposures after dark, such as a lit cityscape, a tripod does the steadying. The lens arrives without weather sealing, so treat it as a fair-weather companion for street and interior work. Dust and drizzle call for care. The front glass also lacks a fluorine coating, so expect to wipe dust and water spots off it more often. A cloth in the bag handles most of it.
Weather Sealing ⓘWeather sealing capabilities will give you more confidence when shooting in unfavourable conditions. | No |
Fluorine Coating ⓘCoating to repel water and oil from lens elements. | No |

Teleconverter ⓘA teleconverter (extender) is an extra piece of equipment that fits between the lens and the camera body to enhance magnification | No |

About the ConstructionTwo aspherical elements help correct distortion, which otherwise curves straight edges in interior and architecture frames. Three low-dispersion elements help reduce chromatic aberration, the coloured fringes that can appear along high-contrast edges such as a roofline against a bright sky.
Elements ⓘLens elements refer to individual pieces of glass within the lens. | 14 |
| Groups | 11 |
Aspherical Elements ⓘThe number of aspherical lens elements which can help correct aberrations such as spherical aberration. | 2 |
Bi Aspherical Elements ⓘElements with two non-spherical surfaces | 0 |
Low Dispersion ⓘElements that reduce chromatic aberration | 3 |
Super Low Dispersion ⓘAdvanced elements further reducing chromatic aberration | 0 |
CA Reduction ⓘBuilt-in features to reduce chromatic aberration | 0 |
Internal Focusing ⓘInternal Focusing means that the lens does not change in size during focusing, and the front element does not rotate.
