7Artisans launched this 35mm prime in 2025 for Fujifilm X APS-C cameras, and it remains in production. On APS-C, its 35mm focal length gives a standard view, similar to a normal lens on full frame. That makes it a natural choice for street photography, everyday documentation and environmental portraits that include some of the surroundings.

The f/1.4 maximum aperture is the main reason to buy it. The trade-off is a fixed focal length, no stabilization and no sealing, in exchange for a bright and very portable lens. It suits photographers who work with one natural framing most of the time. On a light body it also makes a discreet walk-around kit for travel.

It weighs 6.5 oz (184 g) and extends 1.93 in (49 mm) from the mount, with a 2.68 in (68 mm) body. That adds little bulk to a small APS-C body, so it works as an everyday lens. A screw-in filter must match the 62mm thread, so a polariser or protective filter screws straight on.

A single 35mm focal length encourages a working style. It keeps people at a natural, conversational distance and still shows the room or street around them. You change framing by moving closer or further back, which often leads to more deliberate compositions.

The f/1.4 aperture is the working heart of the lens. In dim interiors, cafés or evening markets, it admits enough light to keep shutter speeds usable at moderate ISO values. Wide open at portrait distance it also blurs a busy background and pulls attention to the subject.

Closest focus sits at 1.1 ft (35 cm) from the sensor. That is close enough to fill the frame with a plate of food, a flower or a still-life detail. Focusing that near with the aperture wide open deepens the background blur further.

Seven aperture blades shape out-of-focus highlights once you stop down a stop or two. Wide open, point lights in evening scenes tend to render as smooth discs rather than shapes.

There is no image stabilization in this lens. The wide aperture partly offsets that, because f/1.4 allows faster handheld shutter speeds than a dimmer zoom would. In very low light, a steady hold, a supported elbow or a tripod keeps frames sharp.

The lens also has no weather sealing and no fluorine coating on the front element. Treat it as a fair-weather and indoor lens, and expect to clean dust and fingerprints from the glass yourself. Rain, sea spray and heavy dust call for extra care, because the barrel is not sealed against them.

Inside, eight elements in five groups include one low-dispersion element. Low-dispersion glass is designed to help reduce chromatic aberration, where different colours focus at slightly different points and leave coloured fringes along high-contrast edges. For backlit street scenes, neon signs and shiny metal, that design aims to keep high-contrast edges cleaner.
