Read our notes on general
The Pergear 50mm f/1.2 is a $99 manual-focus prime for APS-C mirrorless cameras, available for Fujifilm X, Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon RF, and Micro Four Thirds mounts. Inspired by the 1980s Nikon AI-S design, everything is fully mechanical with no electronic communication to the camera. Image quality remains usable at f/1.2, though images prioritize character over technical perfection, showing low contrast and a glow around highlights, but improves significantly when stopped down to f/1.4 or f/2. Fluorescent paint on the markings aids low-light manual focus, and the 11-blade rounded diaphragm ensures smooth bokeh.
