What We Like
+World's first autofocus 135mm F1.4 lens with exceptional bokeh larger than the 105mm F1.4 and comparable to 200mm F2
+Outstanding sharpness even wide open at F1.4 with excellent center and corner performance
+Dual HLA autofocus motors deliver fast, accurate, and silent focusing for moving subjects
+Sophisticated optical design with 4 FLD elements and 2 aspheric elements minimizes chromatic aberration and delivers crisp detail
+Excellent build quality with aluminum, magnesium, and TSC materials; weather-sealed construction
+Balanced weight distribution and manageable ergonomics despite 1420g; includes Arca-Swiss tripod socket
Worth Knowing
Heavy at 1420-1430g, similar to 70-200mm F2.8 zoom lenses; not ideal for extended handheld use
Large 105mm filter diameter makes compatible filters expensive and hard to find
Limited versatility due to 135mm focal length; less suitable for varied composition requirements
Noticeable focus breathing during video work, which can be distracting when pulling focus

Read our notes on general
The Sigma 135mm F1.4 DG Art is the world's first 135mm autofocus lens to achieve a maximum aperture of F1.4, delivering exceptional expressive capabilities for portrait photography. Its effective aperture diameter produces exceptional bokeh, which is larger than that of the Sigma 105mm F1.4 DG HSM Art known as "Bokeh Master," and is comparable to that of the Sigma 200mm F2 DG OS Sports. In the center of the frame, wide open, the images are already tack sharp and very contrasty, with stopping down to f/2.8 leading to no real gains in image quality. Metal components such as aluminum and magnesium alloys are combined with engineering plastics throughout the construction, balancing durability with lightweight design for comfortable handling.
