Sigma 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN Art

The Sigma 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN Art is a full-frame standard zoom for Sony E and Leica L mirrorless cameras. Sigma launched it in 2024, and it remains in production today.

The focal range runs from a moderate wide view at 28mm to a short telephoto at 105mm. That covers street scenes, interiors and groups at one end, and portraits, weddings and stage work at the other. The constant F2.8 maximum aperture applies at every focal length.

The main trade-off is bulk. The lens weighs 2 lb 3.1 oz (995 g), and the wide barrel adds to the load on an all-day shoot.

The 28–105mm span handles most everyday assignments without a lens change. At 28mm you can take in a room, a street or a group at a table. The 105mm end flatters portraits and tightens detail at ceremonies and small stages. The rotary zoom ring moves you between those framings with one twist.

F2.8 stays available through the whole zoom. At 105mm you can blur a busy background behind a headshot at full aperture. At 28mm the same speed keeps shutter speeds workable in dim interiors where slower zooms would force ISO up.

Twelve aperture blades help the aperture opening stay near-circular when you stop down. That design keeps the diaphragm close to a round shape at smaller settings.

The lens is sealed against dust and moisture for outdoor work, helping reduce the risk of debris reaching the internals. A fluorine coating on the front element helps water and oil bead off, so the glass wipes clean quickly between shots. Inside are 18 elements in 13 groups, including five aspherical elements. Their specially shaped surfaces help correct distortion and spherical aberration. That matters at the 28mm end, where straight walls and door frames can bow in a frame.

Two low-dispersion elements and one super-low-dispersion element help reduce chromatic aberration, the colored fringes that can appear along high-contrast edges. Focusing moves elements inside the barrel.
