Worth Knowing
Extremely heavy at 3,985g (8.8 lbs)—requires monopod support for handheld shooting
Sony E-mount version limited to 15 fps burst mode and no teleconverter compatibility
At f/4 wide-open, optical performance slightly trails true f/4 primes; stopping down one stop recommended
Longer focus throw and slower AF compared to Sony FE native lenses like the 200-600mm

Read our notes on general
The Sigma 300-600mm F4 DG OS Sports is a revolutionary large-aperture ultra-telephoto zoom lens that delivers all the convenience and versatility of a zoom lens with the superior optical performance of an ultra-telephoto prime lens. This rare lens is simultaneously both very expensive (at $6000 USD) and also a great bargain relative to the competition, offering 300mm, 400mm, 500mm, and 600mm F4 near-prime performance in a single package. It's a big lens (167mm in diameter and 467.9mm in length) and weighs nearly 4 kilos (3985g), but its build quality is easily on par with any 600mm f/4 telephoto from Sony, Nikon, or Canon.
