This Sony FE 35mm F/1.4 GM is a fast prime for full-frame Sony E bodies. It suits photographers who shoot weddings, events and street work, where a single natural view of the scene is enough. Travel and everyday shooting suit the same lens. It also serves handheld video, where a small prime keeps the rig manageable.

The trade-off is flexibility. A prime gives you one focal length, so you frame by moving rather than zooming. The fixed view also encourages a consistent style across a shoot. In return, the wide f/1.4 maximum aperture suits low-light work. Sony launched the lens in 2021, and it remains in production.
