What We Like
+Fast constant f/2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range for low-light performance
+Compact and lightweight design (320g) that's easy to carry and use with gimbals
+Excellent optical performance with minimal distortion and low light fall-off
+Quick, silent autofocus motor with reliable focus in video and photo modes
+Very affordable pricing compared to competing ultra-wide-angle zooms
+Weather sealing for durability in challenging outdoor conditions
Worth Knowing
Peak sharpness at 11mm; slightly less impressive performance at 18mm without stopping down to f/5.6
Limited zoom range (7mm) compared to some competitors like the Tamron 11-20mm
Lens extends physically as focal length decreases, which may be a concern for gimbal users
Plastic construction feels less premium than some higher-priced alternatives, though build quality is solid

Read our notes on general
The Tokina atx-m 11-18mm F2.8 X is the first super wide angle zoom lens in Tokina's product line-up designed exclusively for mirrorless cameras, featuring a fast f/2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range and stored in a compact and lightweight body for hybrid users who shoot stills and video. With very nice image quality and great Kenko optical glass colors, it provides a credible alternative to more established competitors like Sigma and Tamron. At 74.4mm in both diameter and length with a weight of 320g, it strikes a balance between portability and optical capability.
