About This LensTTArtisan introduced this compact prime in Fujifilm X mount in 2022. Sony E and Nikon Z versions followed. Choose the version made for your camera. The 27mm focal length covers APS-C sensors and suits street photography, travel and everyday pictures of people and places. The appeal is size. The lens has one fixed focal length and an f/2.8 maximum aperture, so it suits photographers who value a compact setup. A wider aperture gives more options in dim light, while a zoom lets you change framing without moving. Consider which matters most for your usual subjects.

About the BuildThe Fujifilm X version weighs 3.3 oz (94 g), measures about 2.4 in (61 mm) across and extends 1.14 in (29 mm). Those figures apply to the Fujifilm X version only. It adds very little bulk to a compact body, and the front takes 39mm screw-in filters.

About the OpticsAt 27mm on APS-C, you can photograph streets, markets and people with some surroundings. Exact framing depends on distance. Moving closer makes a nearby subject more prominent against the background. Moving back includes more of the setting. Those changes in viewpoint also change perspective. The f/2.8 maximum aperture gives more room for a faster shutter speed or lower ISO than a smaller opening. Depth of field still depends on focus distance and aperture. A nearby subject can have a soft background when there is enough space behind it. Stop down when several people at different distances must stay sharp. Closest focus is 1.1 ft (35 cm), measured from the sensor. This suits nearby details such as food or objects on a market stall. Leave room ahead of the glass and avoid shading a subject when working close.

About the FeaturesThere is no stabilisation in the lens. A camera with body stabilisation can reduce shake for still scenes. Bracing the camera helps at slower shutter speeds. For a person moving through a street, retain enough shutter speed for their movement as well as your own. There is no weather sealing, so use cover in rain and keep the lens away from blowing dust or sea spray. Blow loose dust off the front glass before wiping it. Keep both ends capped when the lens is stored. A clicked aperture ring gives a physical control for the opening. Its marked settings help you return to an aperture used earlier in a session. Changing the aperture also changes depth of field and the exposure settings needed. Check that the aperture setting suits the light before you take the next picture. Check the histogram too.
Weather Sealing ⓘWeather sealing capabilities will give you more confidence when shooting in unfavourable conditions. | No |
Fluorine Coating ⓘCoating to repel water and oil from lens elements. | No |
| Built In Lens Hood | No |

Teleconverter ⓘA teleconverter (extender) is an extra piece of equipment that fits between the lens and the camera body to enhance magnification | No |
| Image Stabilization | No |
Construction | |
About the ConstructionThe lens has a metal body around an optical formula of six elements in five groups. The small physical size is useful when keeping a camera setup compact. The material and element total describe its construction without establishing resistance to impacts or measured image quality.
Elements ⓘLens elements refer to individual pieces of glass within the lens. | 6 |
| Groups | 5 |
Aspherical Elements ⓘThe number of aspherical lens elements which can help correct aberrations such as spherical aberration. | 0 |
Bi Aspherical Elements ⓘElements with two non-spherical surfaces | 0 |
Low Dispersion ⓘElements that reduce chromatic aberration | 0 |
Super Low Dispersion ⓘAdvanced elements further reducing chromatic aberration | 0 |
CA Reduction ⓘBuilt-in features to reduce chromatic aberration | 0 |
Internal Focusing ⓘInternal Focusing means that the lens does not change in size during focusing, and the front element does not rotate. | No |
