General

About This Lens

This prime gives full-frame photographers a short telephoto for portraits and candid work. It comes in Sony E, Nikon Z, Fujifilm X and Leica L versions, so choose the one made for your camera. Some details, such as internal focusing, are confirmed only for the Sony E version, so check the listing for your mount. TTArtisan released it in 2024, and it remains in production.

At 75mm it flatters faces and lets you work from a comfortable distance. The f/2 aperture adds light-gathering and background control, and at 12 oz (340 g) the lens keeps the load small.

The main trade-off is support and protection. There is no stabilization and no weather sealing, so it suits fair-weather shooting with steady hands or enough light.

About the Build

The lens measures 2.56 in (65 mm) wide and 2.83 in (72 mm) long, and it weighs 12 oz (340 g). Those figures suit a walkaround portrait setup where a small, light camera bag matters.

Screw-in filters attach directly to the lens through its 62mm front thread. Match any polariser or ND filter to that thread size.

About the Optics

A 75mm focal length frames head-and-shoulders portraits from a comfortable working distance, and it flatters faces with gentle compression. For candid work at events, the length keeps you close enough to react while staying far enough back not to intrude. It also picks out details across a room when you cannot move closer.

The f/2 maximum aperture does two jobs. It passes enough light for evening interiors and window-lit rooms without a high ISO. It also throws a busy background out of focus, so a subject separates cleanly from the clutter behind them. Depth of field is thin at this aperture, so focus carefully on the eyes.

The nine blades help keep out-of-focus highlights round when you stop down, which smooths backgrounds full of lamps and fairy lights in evening scenes.

Closest focus is 2.5 ft (75 cm). That suits head-and-shoulders portraits and small still-life setups. Frame a little loosely and crop when you want a tighter composition.

Features

About the Features

This lens has no image stabilization. At 75mm, handheld shooting in dim light needs a faster shutter speed or a higher ISO to keep frames sharp. A steady stance or a nearby support helps when the light falls.

There is no weather sealing either. Keep the lens in a bag when rain or dust threatens, and wipe it dry if it gets caught out.

A fluorine coating is absent too. Any smudge or moisture repellence would have to come from other coatings, which are not listed here.

Construction

About the Construction

The build uses 10 elements in 7 groups, including one low-dispersion element. Low-dispersion glass helps reduce chromatic aberration, where colours focus differently and leave fringes along high-contrast edges such as a bright window behind a portrait subject.

Focusing is internal on the Sony E version. Values for other mounts differ or are not listed.
