Fujifilm X half

The Fujifilm X half is a compact camera released in 2025, built around a one-inch sensor. At 240 grams it is a genuinely light camera you can easily keep with you.

Its character comes from film-inspired photography. Thirteen film simulations and 26 filters offer ready-made looks, and adjustable grain plus a date stamp give images a printed-photo feel straight out of the camera.

Built-in wifi is also part of the package, giving this light compact a wireless connection alongside its film-look tools.

The shooting experience centres on film looks. Thirteen film simulations, from PROVIA and Velvia to ASTIA, Classic Chrome, REALA, ACE, Classic Neg and Nostalgic Neg, cover a wide range of colour palettes.

A further 26 analog-inspired filters, including Light Leak, Halation and Expired Film effects, lean into the same analog film territory as the simulations.

Adjustable grain and a date stamp complete the toolset. Grain strength is yours to choose, and the date stamp writes the date onto the photo, echoing film prints.

Built-in wifi is also included, rounding out a feature set centred on photos finished in camera with a film look.

Video on the X half is an unusual proposition. The listed recording resolution is 1080 x 1440 in a vertical 3:4 format, which frames footage in portrait orientation rather than the usual widescreen shape.

Maximum video resolution stops at Full HD, so there is no 4K recording option, and the bitrate runs up to 50 Mbps.

A 2x slow motion mode is also available when you want to slow the action down, giving individual clips a more deliberate and playful pace.

The listed frame rate is 24p, and that is the only option. That single rate gives footage a traditional film-style motion, though it leaves no smoother option for fast movement or quick pans.

Still images come from an 18-megapixel one-inch sensor, and the camera built around it weighs just 240 grams. Sensor and body together keep the whole package small and light.

Rendering is a big part of the stills appeal. Film simulations set the colour palette in camera, from PROVIA and Velvia to Classic Chrome and Nostalgic Neg. Adjustable grain adds texture, and a date stamp can finish each frame like a film print.

Beyond the simulations, 26 analog-inspired filters such as Light Leak, Halation and Expired Film effects push photos toward vintage looks. Because these are in-camera looks, a photo can come out finished, with the grain, filter and date already baked in.
