Hasselblad 907X & CFV 100C

This 2024 Hasselblad is a medium format stills camera built around a modular pairing: the CFV 100C digital back and the 907X body. The back also fits classic V-system film cameras, which links the system directly to Hasselblad's long history.

The 100 megapixel sensor is the defining feature. It suits photographers whose work depends on fine detail, large prints or heavy cropping, and it comes in a camera that records stills only.

Owning it means working within Hasselblad's lens system: native XCD glass plus adapters for HC, HCD, V and XPAN optics. Built-in Wi-Fi and USB-C provide the connections for everything else.

The 907X & CFV 100C does not record video in any form. Every capability on this camera serves still photography, so anyone who needs motion clips alongside stills will need a separate camera for that work.

That also removes a whole layer of setup decisions. There are no recording modes, resolutions or frame rates to choose between, because the camera offers no motion capture at all.

For a photographer working purely in stills, the absence changes nothing about how the camera shoots day to day.

The connection story is straightforward. Built-in Wi-Fi is present, and a USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 port provides the wired option. Together they give the camera two standard routes for connecting to other equipment.

The hot shoe provides TTL flash metering using a Nikon-compatible protocol. Dedicated compatible flash units can therefore meter automatically on camera, which keeps supplementary lighting simple without manual power calculations.

Lens compatibility is part of daily handling too. Swapping between XCD glass and adapted HC, HCD, V or XPAN optics is a normal part of owning this system rather than an occasional novelty, particularly for photographers who already own Hasselblad glass.

Resolution is the story here. The 100 megapixel medium format sensor captures a level of detail that rewards careful work, and it leaves generous room to crop a frame later without losing printable quality.

That much resolving power also magnifies mistakes. Camera shake and focus error both show up more readily at this scale, so steady support and accurate focusing matter more than on a lower-resolution camera. This is a body for deliberate, considered shooting.

Native lenses come from the XCD series, made for this system. That gives a coherent set of optics to build around rather than relying on adapted glass from the first day.

Adapters broaden the options considerably. HC and HCD lenses, V-series optics and even XPAN lenses can be mounted, so a photographer with existing Hasselblad glass can put familiar tools back to work.

There is a single memory card slot. With no second card recording alongside it, each card holds the only copy of those frames, so photographers covering unrepeatable moments should carry spares and offload promptly rather than trusting the whole day to one card.

Frames from the 100 megapixel sensor are large files, and they accumulate quickly across a session. Card capacity and offload timing therefore deserve more planning than on a camera producing smaller files.

Between sessions, the camera's connections are its route to the outside world: a USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 port covers wired use, while built-in Wi-Fi provides the wireless option.
